The Kid & the Clown

1. A story about closeness and being present

- Lecture by director Ida Grøn

A burning desire to focus on the importance of presence, humor and play in relation to the quality of life and health, made me spent 2 years of my life on one hour film: The Kid and the Clown.

The Kid & the Clown is about the importance of qualitative values in general rather than serious illness specifically.

In this lecture I tell the story behind the scenes. About the space that occurs in the interaction with the hospital clown, and how we can make use of this. About the value of micro-moments in relation to the choices we continually make. About the choices and dilemmas, I as a documentary filmmaker face when filming something so vulnerable that reality creeps under the skin.

I want to welcome an equal, exchanging and warm conversation.

"Det var et fornemt arrangement, som vi bagefter har fået mange positive tilkendegivelser på - både hvad angår filmen og din fine beretning om filmens tilblivelse. Det var kanon!" Skagens Bibliotek 2012.

"It was a grand event, which we afterwards received many positive responses on - both in terms of the film and your fine story on the making of the film. It was great." Skagen Libary 2012.

2. The wacky space

- Lecture by hospital clown Angus and director Ida Grøn

An entertaining lecture, where we delve into the meaning and importance of the values represented by the hospital clown - observation, participation, ethics, play, humor and presence.

We draw parallells from concrete situations in the hospital corridor seen in the film to their timeliness in all our own lives.

What does the hospital clown offer that other workers or parents do not? How can we all make use of this?

We focus on the importance of micro-moments in relation to the choices we continually make.

"Det var et fornemt arrangement, som vi bagefter har fået mange positive tilkendegivelser på - både hvad angår filmen og din fine beretning om filmens tilblivelse. Det var kanon!" Skagens Bibliotek 2012.

A hands on participatory lecture and workshop introducing students to the craft and art ultra short documentary.

The students are given inspiration, small tasks, a step by step guide for pre-production, production and post-production. Finally the students are mentored in making their own ultra short documentaries.

The lecture and workshop will of course be based on the students level, and is determined on active involvement of the students.
